The Selbach family's wine business at Zeltingen-Rachtig dates to 1660, and alongside the Selbach-Oster estate it has always run a negociant and brokerage arm, J. & H. Selbach, consolidating the production of smaller Mosel growers. Johannes Selbach created the 'Incline' to outshine every Mosel Riesling at or near its price, and named it for the impossibly steep slopes the fruit comes from — multiple sites on blue and red Devonian slate around Piesport, Zeltingen, Graach and Wehlen. It is vinified and aged entirely in stainless steel and finished off-dry, with just a hint of residual sugar.

Vinified in stainless steel with just a hint of residual sugar, this wine vividly represents all that Mosel wine should be: fruity, with vibrant acidity, clarity and precision, all highlighted by intense slate-driven minerality. Wine writers have described a waxy, floral nose with hints of honey and a palate that expertly balances vibrant acidity against that touch of residual sugar.
