Profile & Story

Casreli is a small Kakhetian winery founded in 2015 by five friends who trained together as medical doctors in Tbilisi, working under the leadership of Misha Dolidze. Their roughly 8 hectares of vineyards sit in the village of Vachnadziani in the Alazani Valley, on clay-and-silt soils at about 450 meters elevation, planted to indigenous Georgian varieties. Casreli farms organically and ferments and ages all of its wines in traditional qvevri, bottling unfiltered and without additives; the estate is a member of Georgia's Natural Wine Association and has won medals at the International Qvevri Wine Competition. Amidasturi is an orange qvevri wine blended from Rkatsiteli, Kakhuri Mtsvane and a small portion of Rkatsiteli Muscat, macerated on skins and stems for around eight months in qvevri before resting further in stainless steel.

Tasting Notes

A deeply aromatic amber wine with notes of honey, apricot and saffron on the nose, opening onto peach, black tea, kiwi, white pepper and hazelnut on the palate, carried by a full body and soft, well-integrated tannins. Restaurant's Notes: Unfiltered amber Qvevri, medium-bodied amber wine is expertly crafted using traditional Georgian methods in Qvevri dating back thousands of years. This mix of rRkatsiteli, Mtsvane, Kakhuri and Muscaturi Rkatsiteli grapes boasts notes of beeswax, yellow flowers, macerated apricot, and fermented honey, while being self-grown and harvested with organic practices to ensure the best quality product
