Thibault Ducroux grew up in a winemaking family in Villie-Morgon, the heart of Beaujolais, learning the basics in his father's cellar before studying viticulture and enology locally. Discovering the work of Jules Chauvet, the chemist and winemaker considered the father of the natural wine movement, reshaped his approach; he now farms 10.5 hectares across Beaujolais, Morgon and Fleurie. En Roue Libre ("Freewheeling") nods to both his non-interventionist winemaking and his love of cycling: 100% Gamay from roughly 40-year-old vines on clay-silt soils, hand-harvested and vinified by whole-bunch carbonic maceration with spontaneous fermentation, then aged eight months on fine lees in concrete vats with no fining or filtration and at most 2ppm of SO2 added at bottling.
