Buf-Wehr Ranch
2023, Russian River Valley, USA
Profile & Story
Buf-Wehr Ranch is a small, organically farmed vineyard located in the cooler, western edge of the Russian River Valley. Summer fog that rolls in from the Pacific Ocean helps to moderate temperatures throughout the growing season. In 2023, the young Pommard clone vines performed exceptionally well, thanks to ample soil moisture and a prolonged, cool ripening period. These conditions allowed for even phenolic development while preserving the wine’s natural acidity and fresh fruit character. Free SO2: 13 ppm Total SO2: 63 ppm
Tasting Notes
The wine showcases flavors of red cherries and an aromatic bouquet of sage and thyme. It exhibits a silky tannin structure, exemplifying another outstanding year for fine Russian River Pinot Noir.
Pairing Recommendation
This Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with dishes such as roasted duck, grilled salmon, or mushroom risotto, complementing the wine's red fruit and herbal notes.
