This Vino Rosso belongs to La Collina Biologica, the organic line of Azienda Agricola Cirelli, Francesco Cirelli's 23-hectare farm in the hills near Atri in Abruzzo, just a few kilometers from the Adriatic, where vineyards, olive groves, crops and livestock are all worked in step with natural cycles. The Montepulciano grows on clay and limestone soils, Guyot-trained and organically farmed, and is picked in the third week of September. The grapes are destemmed, gently crushed and given a short maceration of no more than a week in stainless steel, then softly pressed to avoid harsh tannins and keep the fruit fresh; the wine rests about four months in steel before bottling.
