Vagabonde comes from Les Vignerons de Roquemaure, the small cooperative also known as Rocca Maura, which brings together around fifty growers on the right bank of the Rhone in the Gard. Established in 1922, it is committed to organic and sustainable farming in the vineyard. Winemaker Armelle Dieval blends Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah from vines planted between 1960 and 1990 on the galets roules, red clay and limestone of the plateau de Vallongue, cropped at very low yields of around 30 hectoliters per hectare. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed and crushed, fermented naturally with gentle daily pump-overs over three weeks on the skins, then pressed into concrete tanks and aged on the lees for a few months.
