Kiki & Juan is a Spanish natural-wine project from John House, of Ovum in Oregon, and his partner Kerin Auth Bembry, working with fruit from the high-elevation, calcareous soils of Requena in Valencia's Utiel-Requena zone. Their Orange bottling co-ferments 90% Macabeo from forty-year-old vines with 10% Sauvignon Blanc, macerated on skins for 24 days with native yeast, then bottled unfined, unfiltered and with minimal sulfur.
Tasting Notes
Skin-contact orange blends from Mediterranean Spain typically show a deep copper-gold hue, with bruised orchard fruit, dried herb and light tannic grip on a dry, textured palate that carries through to a savory, lingering finish.
