Marcel Idler founded his eponymous winery in 2012 at age twenty-four in Weinstadt-Strümpfelbach, in Germany's Remstal, where he farms organically across thirty to thirty-five small parcels within two kilometers of the winery, a quarter of them planted to Trollinger. Alphabet Soop is a Trollinger-Lemberger blend made in collaboration with Soda Club — a pairing of grapes that is a distinctly Württemberg tradition, with Lemberger's deep color and firm tannin balancing Trollinger's lighter, fruitier character.
