Wassmann is a biodynamic estate in Hungary's Villány-Siklós region, founded in 1998 by Ralf Wassmann and Susann Hanauer and still entirely family-run; while the domaine is best known for structured, expressive reds, it has also experimented early with lighter, more playful styles. Carlo is a white wine pressed gently from Cabernet Franc grapes harvested at optimal ripeness, extracted off the skins to keep tannin and color minimal, fermented spontaneously in steel tank for three weeks, and aged seven months in used French barriques.
