Profile & Story

Oriol Rossell describes itself as a small family company dedicated to making high-quality wines and cavas from grapes grown on its own estate in the Penedes. The Brut Nature Reserva is built on the three traditional Penedes varieties, with Xarel-lo predominant alongside Macabeo and Parellada, grown on calcareous soils of loamy and sandy texture. Fruit is harvested by vibrating trailer and selected on a sorting table; after fermentation the wine rests three months on its lees in tank, then ages a minimum of 20 months in bottle, with clarification by traditional manual riddling in pupitres.

Tasting Notes

The winery publishes no formal tasting note for this cuvee. As a zero-dosage Cava Reserva built on Xarel-lo with Macabeo and Parellada and over 20 months on the lees, the house style points to a dry, bone-taut sparkling wine: green apple and citrus fruit, a chalky bite from the calcareous soils, and the bready, nutty depth that lees ageing brings, finishing without any sweetness to soften it.
