Tantaka was established in 2017 by Juanjo Tellaetxe, a winemaker and local priest, who set out to make honest wines with a deep, local character while avoiding manipulation and masking. The 4.6-hectare vineyard sits in the village of Artomana at 1,082 feet on alluvial clay soils over limestone, planted to 13-year-old vines and farmed organically with spontaneous local flora as cover crop. The wine is 100% Hondarrabi Zuri, spontaneously fermented and aged five months on the lees in stainless steel. Alcohol 12.5%.
