Profile & Story
Domaine Einhart farms roughly sixty plots on the hillsides of Rosenwiller, in the northern Alsace vineyard between the Alsace plain and the Vosges foothills, at elevations of 160-300 meters. Nicolas and Théo Einhart practice committed organic viticulture built around physiological, plot-by-plot pruning and a soil-first philosophy, using herbal teas, compost preparations and biodynamic-inspired methods to build vine resilience without seeking formal certification; new plantings mix multiple varieties within a single plot to strengthen biodiversity. All work in the vineyard and cellar is done without additives or added sulphites. Orange is a skin-maceration blend of Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris: the destemmed grapes macerate on their skins for four to six days, then the wine ages ten months in stainless steel on its fine lees before bottling unfiltered and unfined.
Tasting Notes
Alsace skin-contact blends of Gewürztraminer and Pinot Gris like this typically show an amber-orange hue with notes of dried apricot, orange peel and spice, a textured, dry palate, and the mineral grip of the Rosenwiller hillsides' limestone and marl soils.
Pairing Recommendation
Pairs perfectly with cheese and Asian cuisine.
