Profile & Story

Domaine Guion was founded in the early 1950s in Benais, in the heart of the Bourgueil appellation, by Jean and Yolande Guion as a mixed farming operation. In 1965 the family committed to organic growing via the pioneering Lemaire-Boucher method, one of the earliest such conversions in the Loire Valley, driven by a concern for both product quality and the environment. Stéphane Guion took over in 1994 after studying viticulture and oenology and working in Bordeaux and as a cellar master in Chinon; the domaine, certified organic through Ecocert, began converting to Biodynamie (Demeter) in 2021 and grows Cabernet Franc exclusively. The rosé is made from the estate's young Cabernet Franc vines on clay-limestone soil with some gravel.

Tasting Notes

Cabernet Franc rosé from Bourgueil's clay-limestone soils is typically bone dry and bright, with aromas of wild strawberry, redcurrant and rose petal, and a light, refreshing palate carried by citrusy acidity.

Pairing Recommendation

Best enjoyed young, within about three years of the vintage, served at 10-12°C.
