Profile & Story

Lukas Hammelmann built his small Pfalz estate from scratch starting in 2016, without a family winery to inherit, and today farms around five hectares across Zeiskam, Hochstadt and Neustadt-Hambach. The vineyards are planted mostly to Riesling, with smaller amounts of Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir) and Chardonnay, and Hammelmann works with a purist, minimal-intervention approach: spontaneous fermentation in wooden casks, low sulphur use, and much of the range bottled unfiltered. His wines earned him 'Discovery of the Year' in the 2023 VINUM Weinguide Deutschland. Caesslin is one of his Spätburgunder-based cuvées, made as a dry rosé from limestone-influenced Pfalz vineyard sites.

Tasting Notes

Pfalz Pinot Noir rosés of this style are typically pale, zingy and mineral-driven, with fresh red-berry fruit and a light, precise palate shaped by limestone and loess soils.
