Mas de l'A is Alfredo Arribas's estate in La Morera de Montsant, in Spain's Priorat region, focused on natural, minimal-intervention winemaking under the Portal del Priorat label. Arribas describes Tot-Ú, a blend of several Garnacha mutations (Garnacha Negra, Peluda, Gris and Blanca) with Trepat and Cariñena from different soil types, as the "enfant terrible" of his fine wines: free-run juice and maceration work are combined and fermented in steel tanks, with the wine left to settle naturally for at least eight months before bottling unfiltered, dry, at around 12.5% alcohol.
Tasting Notes
Priorat reds built on Garnacha and Cariñena from varied slate and clay soils typically show bright red cherry fruit with smoky, spiced, herbal undertones, light-bodied freshness and a lively, slightly grippy finish — in keeping with the light, juicy, minimal-intervention style Arribas aims for with this cuvée.
Pairing Recommendation
The importer suggests pairing with beetroot and soured cream, grilled redfish with aubergine-tomato sauce, or braised chicken with harissa.
