Profile & Story
Ocho was founded in 2012 by a group of wine-loving friends who make Georgian wine organically using traditional techniques, sourcing grapes from vineyards across Kakheti and Kartli; the winery is a member of Georgia's Natural Wine Association. Their "Do U Believe?" Mtsvane, part of a range of playfully labeled skin-contact wines, is made from the Mtsvane variety grown in Kakheti, Georgia's principal wine region, following the country's ancient tradition of fermenting and macerating on skins in qvevri (buried clay amphorae).
Tasting Notes
Amber-hued orange wines made from Mtsvane in Kakheti typically show floral, honeyed aromatics of orange blossom and stone fruit, layered with notes of dried apricot, black tea and spice from extended skin contact, with firm tannic grip and a savory, structured finish typical of qvevri-aged wines.
