Profile & Story

Ca' del Baio is a fourth-generation winery in Treiso, at the heart of the Barbaresco DOCG, today led by sisters Paola, Valentina and Federica Grasso. 'Autinbej' — a tribute to founder Giulio Grasso's late father Ernesto — blends Nebbiolo from the estate's finest, sunniest vineyard exposures, on gray marl, limestone and sandy soils; it debuted with the 2014 vintage.

Tasting Notes

Traditionally vinified on the skins for nine to fifteen days and aged twenty-four months in large Slavonian oak casks, Autinbej shows a deep garnet red with hints of old pink, an intense, fruity nose of raspberry, jam and violets with spice and cocoa notes, and a slightly tannic, persistent, fruity finish.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs well with red meat, duck, and grilled or fried pork, including dishes with sweet-and-sour or spicy sauces.
