Profile & Story
Dolce is the Far Niente family's dedicated late-harvest winery — America's only winery devoted to a single Sauternes-style dessert wine. Its fruit comes from the 20-acre Dolce Vineyard in Coombsville, at the foot of the Vaca Mountains east of Napa, on soils of gravel, volcanic ash, loam and clay. The wine is a blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc left on the vine into late harvest to concentrate under botrytis (noble rot). The 2021 bottling reaches 13.2% ABV.
Tasting Notes
The nose shows orange, lime, apricot and honeysuckle. On the palate, apricot, ripe pear, fresh and candied orange peel, and bakery spices arrive with a creamy texture, layered with golden honey, toasted brioche, caramel and mandarin, carrying through to a long, elegant finish.
