Profile & Story

Founded in 1969 by Roger Perrin, Domaine Roger Perrin is now farmed by fifth-generation vigneron Xavier Perrin, continuing work on land the family has held since the early 1900s between Orange and Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The estate tends 40 hectares across 70 different plots, vines averaging 60 years old (85% over 20 years), clay-and-limestone subsoil topped by the region's signature galets roulés. The red is a traditional blend of 76% Grenache, 12% Syrah, 7% Mourvèdre, 3% Cinsault, 2% Clairette, 2% Counoise and 2% Vaccarèse. Hand-harvested, partially destemmed (30-40%), fermented in cement tanks 18-23 days, aged 30-40% in foudre, 40-50% in enamel-lined tanks, 15-20% in new oak.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby in color, with smoke-accented cherry, raspberry and potpourri aromas showing good clarity and a spicy lift. The palate is juicy and focused, offering lively bitter cherry, red berry and floral pastille flavors.
