Profile & Story

Riesling is what Famille Hugel calls "the Pinot Noir of white wines." The Classic bottling is 100% Riesling from hand-harvested grapes on predominantly clay and limestone vineyards around Riquewihr, vines averaging 32 years old, yield 67 hL/ha. Pressed without pumping/mechanical handling, fermented in temperature-controlled vats 18-24°C, racked once, bottled under DIAM closure. 12% alcohol, 1.3 g/L residual sugar, 6 g/L tartaric acidity, pH 3.17.
