Field Recordings is winemaker Andrew Jones's Paso Robles winery, which he describes as "a personal catalog of the people and places he values most." What began as a small hobby batch in 2007 — while Jones worked as a vineyard-nursery fieldman across the Central Coast — has grown into a substantial operation now considered one of California's largest pét-nat producers, alongside a strong focus on skin-contact and blended wines. Skins is Jones's "gateway" orange wine: a rotating blend of Central Coast white varieties led, in the 2024 vintage, by Chenin Blanc, Malvasia Bianca, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc and Vermentino, sourced from a mix of organic and sustainably farmed vineyards. The grapes are destemmed and fermented on their skins for 23 to 46 days before pressing to neutral French oak, where the wine ages four months before a light filtration and bottling.

Pairs with bleu cheese, duck sausage and dried fruit, and works well with spicy Mexican or Thai food.
