The Carussin family – Bruna, Luigi and their sons Luca and Matteo – work together as a family to continue traditions that date back five generations. Originally founded in 1927 with only four hectares, over many years their farm in the San Marzano Oliveto hills grew to the twenty-one hectares they and their family currently farm. The Completo Rosso is a blend of Barbera, Nebbiolo, Grignolino, and Dolcetto. Everything is farmed without herbicides or pesticides, and biodynamic principles are followed in both the vineyard and the cellar. Harvest is done by hand, fermentation is spontaneous and no artificial temperature control is used. Bruna raises her beloved "asinoi" on the farm – this is why you see drawings of donkeys on many of the estate's labels. The farm hosts a teaching school for young children who come to experience farm life and to interact closely with the animals, especially the gentle donkeys. They learn that “tutto ciò che ha vita ha un linguaggio” (everything that has life has a language), which encourages their love and respect for nature and all living things.
