Tenuta Belvedere dates back to the late 19th century but came into its own when Federica and Gianluca Cabrini began to re-cultivate her grandfather’s land in 2013. The vineyards cover approximately 10 hectares on a hillside in the municipality of Montecalvo, Versiggia, in the Oltrepò Pavese area of the Lombardia region. The area runs east-west along the south of the Po river. The hills of the Oltrepò are strongly influenced by the cool sea breezes of its coastal neighbor Liguria, and the clay-limestone soil, once covered by the sea, allows for natural water drainage. Pinot Noir is the main focus here, along with local Croatina, Bonarda Barbera, Cortese, and Riesling. No pesticides or herbicides are used in the vineyards. Much of the work is done by hand. In the cellar, Gianluca works with cement vessels and stainless steel. Zero sulfites are added to their Pet Nats.
