Destilerías Atxa (also known as Destilerías Manuel Acha) is a family distillery founded in 1831 in Amurrio, in the Basque Country's Arabako Txakolina wine region, about 50km from the Cantabrian Sea. Now in its fifth generation under Gabriel Atxa, the house preserves traditional recipes and all-natural ingredients. The Vermouth Blanco is made from a base of Airén wine (some sources cite Hondarrabi Zuri and Viura blends used in the house's other wines); botanicals including wormwood, gentian, bitter orange, cardamom, clove, hibiscus and over 30 others are macerated in aguardiente produced in a 130-year-old copper pot still, then blended into the neutral wine base and lightly sweetened. Bottled at approximately 15% ABV.
