Profile & Story

Best's Wines is an historic winery in Great Western, Victoria (Grampians region), founded in 1866. Riesling was among the first varieties planted at the Concongella Vineyard by Henry Best in 1868, and cuttings from these historic vines have been studied by Geisenheim University in Germany. The 2024 Great Western Riesling is a blend of fruit primarily from the Concongella and Salvation vineyards. Winemakers: Ben Thomson and Simon Fennell/Jacob Parton. ABV approximately 11.5%.

Tasting Notes

Lifted aromas of kaffir lime and honeysuckle over red apple and musky spice on the nose; intense lime flavors with a slippery mouthfeel and a fresh mineral finish. Renowned for graceful ageing potential (20+ years).

Pairing Recommendation

Best's suggests smoked salmon and cream cheese roulade, or Moreton Bay bug ravioli.
