Profile & Story
Château Belá is a 20-hectare estate near the Danube in southern Slovakia (Štúrovo, Južnoslovenská), founded in 2000-2001 by owner Countess Ilona von Krockow together with famed German winemaker Egon Müller (Scharzhofberg/Saar), working alongside local winemaker Miroslav Petrech. Since 2001 the estate has specialized in fine dry Riesling (locally called Rizling Rýnsky) as well as Cabernet Sauvignon. Hand-harvested and fermented in stainless steel.
Tasting Notes
A surprisingly refined Riesling with limey flavors and texture reminiscent of a classic Mosel, retaining a mouth-watering, mineral crispness on the finish. Honey, honeycomb, lime and linden-blossom aromatics typical of the estate's style; older vintages can develop classic petrol/kerosene notes.
Pairing Recommendation
Suggested with sushi, sashimi, shellfish, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine, or as an aperitif.
