Profile & Story
Denny Bini is one of the leading figures in the artisanal revival of Lambrusco in Emilia, farming organically-certified vineyards (Bioagricert IT-BIO-007) on marl-and-sand soils, some of which he owns and some sourced from a neighboring organic grower. A former cellar master at a historic Lambrusco estate, Bini gradually shifted his own career toward growing his own fruit and working almost entirely in metodo ancestrale (the ancestral, bottle-fermented method of his great-grandfathers' generation, also known as pet-nat). This sparkling red Lambrusco dell'Emilia, imported to the US by PortoVino, is his everyday-drinking bottling, affectionately nicknamed the 'Festa' label for its lively, convivial character.
Tasting Notes
Deep reddish-purple in color with a garnet edge, pouring a foamy pink mousse that falls back quickly. The nose opens with black plums and dark berries, joined by earthy notes of leather and damp clay. On the palate, tart-sweet black fruit is framed by soft tannins and a distinctive bitter note on the finish, classic to Emilian Lambrusco. 11% ABV.
