Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery, founded by the Ukrainian-born viticulturist Dr. Konstantin Frank after he immigrated to the Finger Lakes in 1951, was the first to successfully plant European vinifera grapes in the eastern United States. Eugenia Dry Riesling honors Eugenia Bartle Frank, Konstantin's wife, who encouraged him to complete his viticulture degree in the 1920s and helped build the winery's foundation, welcoming guests and running the early business while Konstantin conducted his research. The wine is 100% Keuka Estate fruit from the winery's best and oldest Riesling plot, planted in 1968 on 1613 and 3309 rootstocks; this plot has the vineyard's highest slate content, giving shallow soils with high natural acidity. The Keuka estate vineyard was New York Sustainable Winegrowing Vineyard Certified in 2023.
Tasting Notes
Fresh lime, ripe nectarine and green apple aromatics over a foundation of cool, shale-driven minerality; vibrant and mineral on the palate with a full, textured mouthfeel balanced by bright, clean acidity, finishing long with citrus, stone fruit and flinty elegance -- distinct Keuka Lake minerality.
