Weingut Rudolf Fürst is a fourth-generation family estate in Bürgstadt, Churfranken (western Franken), Germany, renowned internationally for its Spätburgunder as well as precise white wines. The estate farms 22 hectares on the region's distinctive red, iron-rich Buntsandstein (red sandstone) plus limestone-influenced parcels. The 'pur mineral' tier are estate (Gutswein) whites grown on stony soils, fermented dry either in large wooden barrel or stainless steel to showcase elegance and pure minerality. Riesling from the red sandstone here is typically moderate in alcohol (11-12.5%) and leans stylistically closer to the primary-rock soils of the western Rheingau/Nahe than to Franken's more common Muschelkalk (shell-limestone) Riesling.
