Giovanni Almondo is a family estate in Montà d'Alba, Roero (Piedmont), whose family has been recorded in the local civic registry since the 1300s, centered on the Vittori di Montà area at the heart of the Arneis vineyards. Best known for Roero Arneis, the estate also produces Langhe Riesling DOC "Sassi e Sabbia" ("stones and sand") from Riesling clones (Alsace and Mosel selections) that Domenico Almondo brought to Roero in the late 1980s and planted at 360m elevation on a terroir of stones and sand that was once a seabed.
