Weingut Hexamer is a 35-hectare Nahe estate in Meddersheim run by Harald Hexamer, known for meticulous vineyard work (yields pruned to six-to-eight bunches per vine) and hand harvesting. The estate holds 7.5 hectares in the Meddersheimer Rheingrafenberg, a steep, southeast-facing slope of red sandstone with quartzite deposits that produces small berries and, per Hexamer, wines that are 'more filigree and better-structured' than the estate's other main site (Marbach). Grapes are picked exclusively by hand and fermented cold (often below 10°C using naturally cold, late-picked fruit) with no dosage and only native-yeast inoculation; 95% of Hexamer's Rieslings are vinified in stainless steel and racked only once. The wines are bottled early to preserve freshness.
