Weingut Kruger-Rumpf, based in Münster-Sarmsheim, Nahe, traces winemaking back to the early 1700s; today run by Philipp, Stefan and Georg Rumpf. The Bingerbrücker Abtei site is the northernmost vineyard of the Nahe, directly bordering the Rheingau, on steep phyllite-slate (mica-inflected slate) soils; part of the vineyard was planted in 1937 (the '1937' bottling comes from these ungrafted, own-rooted old vines that survived phylloxera), the rest planted in the early 1960s. The name Abtei references the Abbey of Hildegard von Bingen. Certified organic farming; spontaneous fermentation in a Stückfass over 30 years old, full yeast contact until June, bottled end of June.
