Weingut Lagler is a family estate in Spitz an der Donau, Wachau, farming since 1789, currently run by Karl Lagler across roughly 14 hectares of top terraced sites including Steinporz, Tausendeimerberg (1000 Eimerberg) and Burgberg. The 1000 Eimerberg is the estate's largest site, an extremely steep stone-terraced, pure south-facing slope of crystalline weathered rock — a Spitz landmark from which, by local legend, some 1,000 'Eimer' (buckets, ~56 liters each) of wine were once harvested. Smaragd is the ripest, most powerful of the three traditional Wachau categories (after Steinfeder and Federspiel), from grapes left longer on the vine, minimum 12.5% ABV, unoaked.

A powerful, structured, age-worthy Wachau Riesling from one of Spitz's landmark steep terraced sites; expect the concentrated stone-fruit ripeness, minerality and depth characteristic of Smaragd-level fruit off crystalline bedrock.
