Weingut Pichler-Krutzler was founded by Elisabeth Pichler and Erich Krutzler and is based in the Wachau/Kremstal border area of Austria, farming certified organic since 2017. Ried Pfaffenberg is a single vineyard high above the Danube at Krems/Stein, on the eastern edge of the Wachau, comprising 18.8 hectares of gently sloped, steep, rugged terrain with a south/southwest exposure; the bedrock is crystalline Gfohler gneiss and mica schist, considered among the best terroirs for Riesling in Austria. Vines for this cuvee are 30-40 years old, exclusively hand-harvested in mid-October, fermented and matured 5-6 months in stainless steel, and bottled in spring; 12.5-13% ABV.
