Weingut Peter Jakob Kühn is a biodynamic estate in Oestrich-Winkel, Rheingau, farmed by the Kühn family. Alte Reben draws on a portfolio of old-vine parcels around the high-elevation (180-350m) village of Hallgarten — one of the Rheingau's coolest, highest districts — on phyllite-slate and quartzite soils, from the sites Hallgartener Hendelberg, Jungfer, Schönhell and Würzgarten. The cooler climate slows and lengthens ripening for a fine, bright, clear aromatic profile. Vinification: 100% selective hand harvest, gentle multi-hour whole-cluster pressing, spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts, unmanipulated must composition, 10 months on full lees in large old wood barrel and stainless steel until late August. VDP.Ortswein classification. ABV 11.5%.
