Lesehof Stagård (Urban T. Stagård) is a biodynamic estate in Stein an der Donau, Kremstal, with winegrowing on the site dating to 1424 (Benedictine monks) and family ownership since 1786; the distinctive 'å' in the name was brought from Sweden by the winemaker's father in the 1980s. Wines come from the steep terraced Stein and Krems vineyards. Steiner Hund is a south-facing, steeply terraced (up to 50% gradient) site with massive crystalline and conglomerate bedrock under a partly sandy loess cover; some of the vines are among the oldest in the region at roughly 80 years. Handverlesen (hand-selected). Farmed biodynamically; hand harvest, spontaneous fermentation, minimal-intervention, predominantly stainless-steel ageing. ABV approximately 13%.
