Weingut Stift Göttweig is the wine estate of the Benedictine Göttweig Abbey, which has shaped viticulture in the Kremstal since 1094. Modern estate winery established 2006 under Fritz Miesbauer (former head of Freie Weingärtner Wachau); named Austrian Winemaker of the Year 2020 by Falstaff. Vineyards (30ha) center on the Göttweiger Berg (423m). Ried Silberbichl — first documented as 'Silberpiegl' in 1562 — sits at the connection point between the Wachau and Kremstal, on Danube terrace sediments capped with calcareous loess-loam; deep soil horizons show mica that shimmers silver in evening light, giving the site its name. Classified 1.ÖTW (Erste Lage) Kremstal DAC.
