Profile & Story

Tiberi Vini Artigianali is a four-generation natural winemaking family in Montepetriolo, in the Perugino hills of Umbria, with ~5 hectares of vineyards at around 350 meters elevation on southwest-facing skeleton-rich slopes. Federico Tiberi made his first wine at age 15 and expanded the family wines internationally in 2014; today he and partner Alessia run daily operations. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, no temperature control, no added sulfites; soil management relies on manure and green manure, with traditional pruning preserving vines over a century old. A 2021 renovation added a tasting room. (Source: The Silk Road Mag profile)

Tasting Notes

Vinified from Trebbiano, Grechetto and Verdello — local Umbrian grapes — with approximately 14 days of skin maceration and 6 months refinement in fiberglass tanks; bottled by hand without sulfites or filtration. Fruity hints of apricot and peach; tea flowers and honey; herbaceous notes and sweet spices. Fresh and tasty on the palate, soft with pronounced but polite, persistent tannins. Pairing Recommendation

Try it with pecorino di fossa. A demonstration of the versatility of Grechetto, indicating broad food compatibility. (Source: Ape Wine Boxes)
