Steve and Jill Matthiasson farm the Linda Vista vineyard themselves behind their home in Napa's West Oak Knoll area, one of the classic cool-climate Chardonnay sites in the valley, where marine-influenced clay soils and cooling winds preserve acidity and freshness while Napa sunshine brings ripeness. They leased the vineyard in 2011 and immediately converted it to organic farming. The wine is built from eight separate harvest passes/lots, blended for complexity and balance -- earlier picks contributing acidity and minerality, later picks contributing body and richness.
