Jean-Pierre Wolff farms 55 acres of Chardonnay in the bucolic Edna Valley outside San Luis Obispo — the oldest vineyard in the appellation, planted in 1976; Mount Eden has made Chardonnay from it since 1985. The fruit is pressed without crushing and barrel-fermented in French Burgundy oak (new, two- and three-year-old), goes through full malolactic fermentation, and is aged about eight months in barrel.
Tasting Notes
Full, lush tropical fruit dominates the aromas and flavors; complex and heady on the palate — a premier example of Central Coast Chardonnay.
