Profile & Story

Castellare di Castellina was formed in 1968 from the consolidation of five farms in the heart of the Chianti Classico zone near Castellina in Chianti; the estate is known for isolating its own Sangioveto (Sangiovese) clone. This Chianti Classico is 95% Sangioveto and 5% Canaiolo from a south-east-facing amphitheater of hillside vineyards at 409m on limestone soil, vinified in stainless steel with malolactic fermentation, then aged 7 months in used barriques and 7 months in bottle.

Tasting Notes

Bright ruby red with purple highlights; harmonious tannins and delicate aromatic complexity, with a balanced, gently sweet finish.

Pairing Recommendation

A versatile match for structured main courses, stewed dishes, and medium-aged cheeses.
