Profile & Story

De Fermo is the estate of Stefano and Eloisa De Fermo in Loreto Aprutino, Abruzzo, where the family has grown grapes since the late 18th century; today the property is farmed biodynamically on clay and limestone soils. The Concrete Rosato is made from 100% Montepulciano, hand-harvested and given only a brief one-to-two-hour skin maceration before pressing. Fermentation begins spontaneously with native yeasts in concrete tanks with no temperature control, and the wine rests in 20-hectoliter concrete vats for around six months before bottling unfined and unfiltered, with only a light dose of sulfur. The estate describes it as a 'baby Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo.'

Tasting Notes

The wine shows delicate aromas of wild strawberry and raspberry, with hints of rose petal and aromatic herbs, carried by a vibrant, saline freshness and juicy, mouthwatering fruit.
