Kelley Fox Wines is a Dundee Hills, Oregon producer known for meticulous, site-focused Pinot Noir farmed with biodynamic principles and made with minimal intervention. The Mirabai is a barrel-selection Pinot Noir sourced from four of the region's most respected vineyards: 52% from own-rooted 1983 plantings at Weber Vineyard, 28% from Stater Vineyard (planted on rootstock in 1990, a newly leased farm between Eyrie and Durant), 11% from own-rooted 1974 and 1984 vines at Durant Vineyard, and 9% from own-rooted vines planted between 1970 and 1988 at Maresh Vineyard. About 15% whole clusters were included in the ferment, and the wine aged in neutral, tight-grained French Burgundy barrels (228L) before bottling at 13.5% alcohol; 1,808 cases were produced.
Tasting Notes
The 2023 Mirabai is medium-dark, deep youthful red with blue undertones and brilliant transparency. The nose offers a heady mix of minerals, subtle spices, ripe strawberries and other dark red berries and cherries, while the palate is juicy and classically Dundee Hills silky, with layers of strawberry carrying through a long finish -- full of depth, richness and power without any heaviness.
