Profile & Story

Domaine Marie de Louvoy is a small organic estate in Molesme, in the Chatillonnais at the northern tip of Burgundy's Cote d'Or, just a few kilometers from the Champagne border. The domaine is run by Alix Dangin together with winemaker Matthieu Dangin, who farm their vineyards organically. Their Carte Noire cuvee is a Cremant de Bourgogne made from 100% organically farmed Pinot Noir sourced from three climats in Molesme -- Lavots, Cotron and Grande Cote -- vinified in a Blanc de Noirs style with no skin contact. The wine spends two years sur lattes before disgorgement and is finished at a dosage of 1 gram per liter, classifying it Extra Brut.

Tasting Notes

As a Blanc de Noirs Cremant de Bourgogne made from 100% Pinot Noir, Carte Noire typically shows a fine, persistent bead with red-berry and brioche notes, a saline mineral edge, and the racy, bone-dry finish typical of an Extra Brut dosage.
