David Trousselle La Couleuvraire Hautes Cotes de Beaune 2024

David Trousselle is a small grower in the Hautes-Cotes de Beaune village of Orches, with vines nestled in a protected valley between Saint-Aubin and Saint-Romain -- a siting that suits Chardonnay particularly well. He was introduced to his importer by Pierre Boisson of Boisson-Vadot, with whom he collaborates on a Hautes-Cotes vineyard project. All the vineyards are farmed organically and were certified by ECOCERT from the 2022 vintage. La Couleuvraire is his single-vineyard Blanc, from parcels adjacent to the cellar. Vinification is deliberately simple: hand-harvested grapes are sorted, the whites barrel-fermented in classical Burgundian fashion with indigenous yeasts, and raised with minimal new wood, 10-20% at most.
