Domaine Lagille was founded at Treslon, near Reims, in 1818, and farms 7.20 hectares planted mainly to Pinot Meunier, the estate's principal variety. L'Inattendue -- 'the unexpected' -- takes its name from the rarity of an entry-range Champagne built from a single grape: it is 100% Pinot Meunier, grown exclusively on the clay-limestone soils of Treslon. The wine is aged on its lees for 36 to 42 months and finished with a dosage of 7 g/l.
