Marchesi Mazzei is a Tuscan wine family with over 600 years of winemaking history, based in Chianti Classico at their historic Fonterutoli estate, with additional vineyards at Belguardo in the Maremma. "Philip" is the family's tribute to their ancestor Philip Mazzei (1730-1816), a political thinker, American Patriot, and close friend of Thomas Jefferson who helped pioneer viticulture in colonial Virginia. The wine is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from both Fonterutoli and Belguardo, aged in American oak as a nod to the family's American ties.
Tasting Notes
A beautifully balanced Cabernet Sauvignon with aromas of black currant and black cherry layered with violet, vanilla and leather; full and ripe on the palate, with intriguing complexity and a long, fresh finish.
