Profile & Story
Place of Changing Winds is the project of Robert Walters, a longtime wine buyer turned grower, on a high-density vineyard in the southern foothills of Mount Macedon in central Victoria, Australia. The site is named for Warekilla, meaning "Place of Changing Winds" in the local Wurundjeri language, honoring the land's original custodians. The estate makes small-parcel Syrah from specific single-vineyard sites in Heathcote and Harcourt, farmed organically and fermented with a range of whole-bunch techniques.
Tasting Notes
These cool-climate Victorian Syrahs are typically perfumed and finessed, combining red-berry lift with fine structure, depth and a savory, spiced core from extended maturation in large-format oak casks.
