Profile & Story

The Montaña family traces its heritage to the origins of the modern Rioja wine industry in the late 19th century. 90% Tempranillo, 10% Graciano; alcohol: 14%; Finca de la Valentina estate vineyard in D.O.C. Rioja at 1900 feet; vines planted 1985 in clay-limestone, ferrous alluvial soils; hand harvested; destemmed; fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel and concrete tanks; aged 12 months in used American and French oak barrels; bottle aged 12 months.

Tasting Notes

Balsamic and toasty notes enhance the ripe stone fruit aromas and flavors. The fruity finish carries firm but polished tannins.
