Profile & Story

Domaine de la Patience lies near the Pont du Gard, between Nimes and Avignon, and takes its name from a herbaceous plant that grows on its land. Christophe Aguilar farms organically across two communes - Bezouce, on the rolled pebbles of the Costieres de Nimes, and Ledenon, on loess - and works to what he calls total respect for the fruit: native yeasts, controlled fermentation temperatures and limited sulfiting, in a stone cellar built in 1930. The IGP Coteaux du Pont du Gard Prestige rouge blends Syrah and Grenache Noir, made by traditional vinification with a long cuvaison, full malolactic fermentation and six months in oak barrel. 13.5% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Garnet, with tile-coloured reflections. Dark fruit, spice and roasted notes on the nose; balanced on the palate, silky, with soft tannins. The estate suggests serving at 14-16 C, with cellaring potential of around ten years.

Pairing Recommendation

The estate recommends marinated or roasted meats, and chocolate desserts.
